Malcolm Scott Carpenter (1925- 2013) was an American naval officer, aviator, aeronautical engineer, aquanaut, and astronaut. He was one of the Mercury Seven astronauts selected for NASA’s Project Mercury in April of 1959. Carpenter was the second American, after John Glenn, to orbit the Earth and the fourth American in space. This book serves as his personal memoir and discusses his experience in the Mercury Seven program. During the early years of the space program, each mission helped determine NASA's progress.
