The book was published by Random House in 1995. The book is signed, with Powell’s autograph in black felt-tipped ink on the full title page.  Colin Powell’s life and career presents a wonderful example of the American dream. Born to Jamaican immigrant parents, he grew up in Harlem. Powell eventually joined the Army and moved through the ranks to become a four star general, and later, a well-known politician.
