Oakleaf Hydrangea

Did you know that the Oakleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia Sikes Dwarf) is actually a native plant? Even if it weren't, this special hydrangea with its elongated (rather than mophead) white flower heads and curious, oak-like leaf shape would be sure to charm lovers of the unusual. One of the problems with Oakleaf Hydrangeas has been its massive size - it can reach 8 feet tall - but this dwarf cultivar fits the bill for smaller, modern gardens while retaining all the best features of its taller parents. Oakleaf hydrangeas look stunning in bloom and are considerably more sun and drought tolerant than their cousins.
