Charles Barbier, a veteran of the Vietnam war, was a self-taught artist of fifteen years before receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of New Orleans and his Master of Fine Art from Louisiana State University. He often tackled controversial subjects and themes while staying open to the viewer's interpretation of the work.
