V I N T A G E // wise ancestors / carved bone pill box with sterling silver bail / a pendant

a carved ox bone pill box unlike its peers in that it has a twist top, rather than being connected by a chord/knot system it has incredibly intricate scenes with someone's wise ancestors amidst diverse plants. if there's a way to screw it tight so that the scene on the cap and the base match, that trick hasn't revealed itself yet. until recently it had a very worn gold fill over brass bail, with the tiniest opening. the original bail has been replaced by a handmade, wire wrapped sterling silver bail that's been lightly hammered to help it keep its shape. it can easily be replaced with another bail (silver or gold) by any jeweler, but this was a cost-conscious way to get it back into circulation  M E A S U R E M E N T S  cylinder measures ~24.5mm x ~18mm large bail has a ~7mm opening C O N D I T I O N  in good vintage condition it has the design quirk where when the top is screwed on tight the image doesn't align handmade, wire-wrapped sterling silver bail is organic in shape and form a
