Leek Seeds - American Flag (Heirloom)

Leeks are very hardy and have few pest or disease problems I start growing them as transplants in January. Start them indoors 30-60 days before last frost. It is an heirloom variety from the 1870's. They have a tasty white bulb that is mild and you can use the stems too. Perfect in soups, salads and can replace onions for a milder flavor. They will grow up to 15" tall and get 2-3" in diameter. They will over winter in many areas. 100 days to maturity. 1/2 teaspoon of seeds as seen in the picture. That is the easiest way for me to measure.  For planting instructions I direct everyone to the Farmer's Almanac. They are clear and concise and cover all care needs.
