Nureyev in Black Background
This portrait of Nureyev was taken by Tony on June 25th, 1988 at his stall at Walmac Farm in Lexington. Eleven years old at the time of the photo, the royally-bred son of Northern Dancer was a sales-topping yearling, a top race horse and a leading sire who made a lasting impact on the breed. A paddock accident which fractured his hind leg in 1987 nearly cost Nureyev his life, but he fortunately recovered and lived on until age 24. His best offspring included Miesque and Theatrical; his daughters have produced the likes of Kingmambo and Big Brown. All of our fine photographic prints are specially printed for each order exclusively on Kodak Professional Endura Premiere Paper.
