Signed on Recto and Verso, includes certificate of authenticity. "I am inspired by ornament, an ancient visual language used in various cultures for centuries." Sarupa Sidaarth (Indian, b.1976) studied at Sir J.J. School of Art and received her MFA at Academy of Art in San Francisco. Her studio practice flows predominantly from an intuitive and emotional approach. Inspired by ornament, her latest body of work explores social issues through the examination of creative and artistic practices. She engages in a thought-provoking dialogue and emphasizes on the idea of peaceful coexistence. Her work has been exhibited extensively in India, Europe and United States, including at the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series San Francisco, group exhibitions at RJD Gallery, Jan Kossen Contemporary in New York, as well as group show UPRISE / ANGRY WOMEN at The Untitle
