This striking celluloid box is the perfect place to hide away secrets, store keepsakes or even house your budding antique jewelry collection. As was customary for a number of trinket and jewelry boxes of the time, this box is constructed out of papier-mâché and then coated in ivory celluloid. The celluloid is beautifully embossed with three-dimensional anemone and forget-me-not flowers as well as decorative scroll work on the sides. The inside of the box is lined in blush colored silk and has some ribbon and brad loop detailing inside the lid, which originally may have been intended to hold a manicure set.
