2021 Chateau-Pegau Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Maclura, France

This wine offers intense aromas of cassis, blackberry, and spice, with soft, ripe tannins on the palate and a lingering finish.  Organic.  Vegan friendly. Born under an Osage orange tree, the Cuvée Maclura Côtes du Rhône calls for the greediness of the fruit revealing a blend of spices with delicate tannins. Designed with respect for the traditions of the south, this cuvée is like our grandmothers’ cuisine : generous and full of life. Owned by the iconic winemaker, Laurence Féraud, Château Pegau is an exceptional terroir in Côtes du Rhône situated less than 4 miles southeast of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Loaded with classic Côtes du Rhône fruit and spice, the wines retain the hallmark stamp and identity of Pegau. “Maclura” is a type of Osage Orange tree (also known by the name Hedge Apple). This red cuvée is name after the Osage Orange trees that grow within the vineyard. In 1987 Laurence joined her father and created the Domaine du Pegau. Born to grow wine, she took courses in both viticult
