Marcel Joubert, Brouilly "Vieilles Vignes" 2017

Located in southern Beaujolais, Marcel Joubert took over his family's three generation old estate in the mid 1970s. His vines range in age from 50-100 years old, and he has always farmed organically and implements some biodynamic practices. He is a dedicated steward of the land and his wines show Beaujolais in its purest form, just fermented grapes. Vinification:  100% organic and biodynamic Gamay from 70 year-old vines grown on  sandy hilly terrain, over granite subsoils. Grapes are hand-harvested, followed by a whole-cluster, semi-carbonic maceration in cement tank using indigenous yeasts. Ages 6-8 months longer after primary fermentation in used barrel. Unfined, unfiltered with no additional sulphur.
