Mazière, "C" 2022

100% old-vine (100+ years-old) Carignan from Fabrice Monin of Mazière in the Corbieres, outside the village of Padern. The Carignan is co-planted with a host of other old-vines in the parcel whose varieties include Grenaches Noir, Gris, Blanc, Maccabeu, Aramon, Morrestel, Bourboulenc, Lledoner Pelut, table grapes.... from a healthy old vineyard site, then, it seems! Grapes are hand-harvested, and spontaneously ferment and macerate in neutral wood prior to élevage also in neutral wood for upwards of a year. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, no additional SO2. 12.5% ABV One of the greats from southern France.
