Soie Perlee - Collections on Wood Spools
Quantity on Spool Each wooden spool contains 16 meters. The collections are sold in shaded color families from the Cabinet of Curiosities Historic Colors Collection. Thread Structure Soie Perlee is a 3 ply twisted filament silk in a soft buttonhole twist with one continuous strand on the tube. It is usually used non-divided, straight from the spool. In rare cases, it can be untwisted into the original three untwisted plies that then retain the soft kink in the ply from the twisting process. This replicates the look of 18th century American samplers when using the untwisted silk for satin stitch. Uses of Soie Perlee Ideal for a variety of standard embroidery stitches, such as satin stitch and French knots, Soie Perlee is especially well-suited for creating flowers, dresses, drapes, leaves, and other larger pieces in needlelace or stumpwork. Soie Perlee is used for needlelace to emulate the thicker filament silk used in the 17th century where more coverage per stitch is desired.
