Thread Structure  These are round braided structures out of soie ovale filament silk and are about 1/2 mm in diameter. 1/6 refers to one strand of soie ovale on each of six bobbins that rotate around each other to make a braid. Uses of Tresse De Soie 1/6 Tresse De Soie 1/6 is useful as a trim on stumpwork to make small loops, edgings, or bows. It also can be couched down to fill shapes with an interesting bumpy texture when using a matching couching thread.  It is soft and thin enough to be sunk with a sinking needle to the back of the ground fabric.  Birds lend themselves to this couched, fill treatment to emulate the feathers.  The braid also works well for finishing on smalls wh
