Angela Davis

Angela Davis, born on January 26, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, emerged as a formidable intellectual and activist within the Black Liberation Movement. Growing up in the segregated South, Davis witnessed firsthand the harsh realities of racial discrimination and violence, which profoundly shaped her political consciousness. During the late 1960s, while studying philosophy at the University of California, San Diego, she became deeply involved with the Black Panther Party (BPP) and the Che-Lumumba Club, an all-Black branch of the Communist Party USA.
