A. Jaume Ventoux "Les Gelinottes" 2020

The Ventoux appellation sits right between Cotes-du-Rhone and the interior of Provence, along the foothills of Mont Ventoux. Wines from Ventoux are less commonly seen in the US than Cotes-du-Rhone, but can be a source of nearly unbeatable value in the region. Typical Ventoux show red fruit and pepper notes and overall quality is very much on the rise. I remember drinking and enjoying these wines when I lived in Avignon and I'm always on the hunt for a good one. This particular example from the Alain Jaume winery is particularly nice, and will compete with all but the very finest Cotes-du-Rhone. If you can find a better Rhone value than this then good on you. 50% Grenache, 50% Syrah. Serve cool.
