"A Forever Memory" We worked hard, went into harm's way, and stood tall for America. We stood muster after chow, got down to our working spaces and turned to under the watchful eyes of our LPO's and chiefs. There was sweat, labor and pressure but through it all the pride of knowing that we were doing what our country called us to do. And then one magic day...the words crackled over the 1MC: "Moored, shift colors!" Hustling into our finest, we waited for the other words we'd been waiting for for weeks: "Liberty Call!" In less time that it takes to tell, we were out the main gate and over the Bridge. Olongapo City, Barrio Barretto and Subic City awaited us with cold beer, smiling young ladies, tempting food, souvenirs, and all the pleasures of the Philippines. Our efforts at sea were now about to be rewarded. These were the wonders of Subic Bay and to this day we remember with Smiles and gratitude.
