Males have long, hair-covered antennae, while Females have shorter, thicker antennae. To initiate mating, females fly to a spider web to wait for a male partner. Enhance the likelihood of successful mating by leaving any existing spider webs or using a stretched cotton ball to simulate them. Females deposit hundreds of bright orange eggs near aphid colonies. Within 2-3 days, the eggs hatch into orange, legless maggots, each measuring up to 3mm, and with a voracious appetite for 7-14 days.
