The Twins defeated the Cardinals four games to three to win the Series. Twins pitcher Frank Viola was named as the 1987 World Series MVP. The final game of the series (Game 7) was played Sunday, October 25, 1987 at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was the 500th World Series game played, and also the 35th birthday of the Twins' Roy Smalley – as well as the last game of his career.
