The 2010 National Title Game was played on April 5, 2010 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, and featured South Regional Champions, #1 seeded Duke Blue Devils, and the West Regional Champions, #5 seeded Butler Bulldogs. Duke got off to a hot start behind Nolan Smith scoring 4 points, giving them a 6-1 lead. Shelvin Mack kept Butler in the game, and after hitting crucial 3 pointers, the Bulldogs led 20-18. Duke bounced back hard, with John Scheyer’s scoring giving Duke a 33-32 lead going into halftime. During the 1st seven minutes of the 2nd half, neither team took a lead larger than 2.
