Oak-Grigsby Lever Switch, 4-Way
This is a 4-way switch from Oak-Grigsby, the current supplier of lever switches to Fender for USA and Mexico production. The 4-way switch was made especially for Fender for use in Telecasters, to add another tonal option. The wiring on most Teles since about 1967 has been this:Position 3: Neck PickupPosition 2: Both Pickups Wired in ParallelPosition 1: Bridge Pickup The 4-way switch allows the pickups to also be wired in series:Position 4: Both Pickups Wired in SeriesPosition 3: Neck PickupPosition 2: Both Pickups Wired in ParallelPosition 1: Bridge Pickup The above is the way Fender has typically wired the switch. But we prefer wiring it this way:Position 4: Neck PickupPosition 3: Both Pickups Wired in SeriesPosition 2: Both Pickups Wired in ParallelPosition 1: Bridge Pickup We think most longtime Tele players would prefer to have the forward position be the neck pickup by itself, and the rearward position be the bridge pickup by itself, in keeping with 50 years of Tele tradition.
