The Guardian is a poseable sculpture inspired by winter and Guardian Angels. Originally, I sculpted her head just for fun and practice and it ended up being a rejection piece… but the idea of an angelic lady in white came to be, with remnants of old fabric and lace and a small glowing lantern meticulously made from a dried pod of the Chinese lantern plant. I also like to think of her as winter itself, it’s heart being the lantern she bears as her gown drapes the land in soft snow. Her lantern is a real dried Chinese lantern plant seed pod.
