Bundles of Sticks for bassoon and percussion by Daniel McCarthy PROGRAM NOTESThe first movement, entitled "Wood and Wind," opens with a recitative-like theme presented in the bassoon before moving into a sixteenth note groove with dialogue between the low tom and marimba. The second movement, "On The Edge," begins in unison between marimba and bassoon with quick sixteenth note figures. The percussionist settles into another groove, this time incorporating all instruments.
