Polypropylene is a lightweight and strong general-purpose rope. It is rot proof and unaffected by water, oil, gasoline, and most chemicals. Polypropylene is most commonly used as a strength member in taped commercial diving umbilicals and also used as "down lines" for items being transported from topside down to the diver.
