This is a beautiful lithograph of James Ensor's "De Sombere Dame" - "The Solemn Lady" - which was originally produced in 1881. It is a stunning reproduction and has been custom framed & matted. The frame compliments the lithograph perfectly. It is quite moody and dark. It is in very good condition.Within the matte, it measures about 11.5" wide by 10 inches tall. Framed, it measures about 17 inches tall by 19 inches wide.About the ArtistJames Ensor (1860-1949) was a Belgian artist, painter, and print maker. He is known as the Belgian pioneer of modernism - his artwork led the way into surrealism and expressionism. His artwork experimented with the use of light, colors, and various subjects which were often seen, in that time, to be scandalous and bold. His work is definitely worthy of study and collecting and he art is still valued throughout the world.
