Trellised Hoya merrillii (long leaves)
Origin and Description:The long-leaved form of Hoya merrillii is a striking variant of the species, showcasing elongated, glossy leaves that can reach impressive lengths compared to the typical heart-shaped foliage. This variant still shares its origin with the standard Hoya merrillii, having been discovered on the island of Mindoro in the Philippines by botanist Elmer Drew Merrill in 1904. The long leaves are thick and dark green, with prominent veining that becomes even more pronounced under bright light. When exposed to direct light, the leaves may develop a reddish hue, adding another layer of beauty. Like other Hoya merrillii forms, this variant also produces fragrant, star-shaped flowers in creamy yellow, often blooming in clusters. Natural Habitat:Similar to the standard form, the long-leaved Hoya merrillii originates from the humid, tropical forests of Mindoro Island, where it grows as an epiphyte on trees. The plant thrives in areas with indirect light and consistent moisture
