They were formerly included in Choeradodis, a similar genus of mantis from the Americas. Asiadodis yunnanensis (Chinese shield mantis) "Cobra" praying mantis Asiadodis was established by Roy (2004) to distinguish fromChoeradodis. Asiadodis have only been found in SoutheastAsia and South Asia. There are two species involved in: A.yunnanensis and A. squilla. A. yunnanensis (Wang and Liang1995) is a type of praying mantises belonging to the orderMantodea, family Mantidae, subfamily Choeradodinae, genusAsiadodis, distributing in China, Yunnan. Asiadodis yunnanensiscaptures insect pests as food and is recognized as an important natural enemy for biological control. In this study, samplesof A. yunnanensis were collected from China, Mengla,Xishuangbanna, Yunnan (21.47N, 101.54E) and stored in thepraying mantises specime
