The moment was finally here. For the past nine months, everyone had been working towards this instant. The previous months had been filled with a flurry of activity. Planning, shopping, creating a resting place, a safe place for this tiny creature to live and grow. Not that this being hadn’t been present for the entire time. He had been; cuddled in a dark, warm place unseen by humans. Off to the side stood the one assigned to this particular child. From the foundation of the earth, this one had been. This was not his first assignment, nor most likely his last. The assignment began at the moment of conception and would continue until this one was escorted home again.
