Common Name: Agave; Century Plant; Mezcal; Mescal; Maguey; Amole Scientific Name: Agave; previously Polianthes Light: Full sun. At least 6 hours of direct sunlight.  Water: Very Drought tolerant. The thicker the leaves the less water required.  Care: Handle with care. Thrive on neglect. Details: Succulents with larger leaves with spikes at the end. Foliage tends toward a blue-green in hardier varieties and a gray-green in warm-climate varieties. Some are variegated with gold or white markings. Grown for their dramatic foliage, not their flowers. One large agave is all you need to make a sculptural focal point in the garden.
