Wearing History #1003 Palisades- 1940s Wrap DressThis is for PRINTED PATTERN- Mailed to you.This wrap dress is inspired by an original mid 1940s dress pattern and featured a cute sweetheart neckline, tucks at the bust and at the bretelles (shoulder straps), and a fun gathered skirt.  This dress wraps at the back and the waist ties slip through a side slit and then wrap around the dress- one belt wraps to the front, the other around the back to meet the first tie at the front, where they are tied in a cute bow.  The bodice and skirt can be accented by ric rac trim, and the bretelles and belt can be made in contrast fabric.  The bodice and bretelles are lined.This dress is a great basic to be made up in solids or in cheerful cotton prints.  The sample was made up in cotton pique for the skirt and bodice and striped seersucker for the contrast belt and bretelles.This pattern was inspired by an original 1940s pattern but has been redrafted for an improved fit and includes step-by-step illu
