A very pretty cocothrinax very similar to C.miraguama sharing the same look with beautifully intricate woven mesh fibers with the distinction being that the leaves are bluish silver above and bright silver/ white below, while the Miraguama is green. It attains a height of nearly 20 feet requiring many many years to do so .The bluish hue cast by the leaves lends a wonderful touch to the tropical garden. It requires full sun and though comes from the serpentine soils of Cuba does not seem to be too finicky in regards to soil requirements but does need good drainage. Like most Coccothrinax it is slow growing at first but speeds up considerably once a trunk is formed. With a maximum of about 6 m (20 ft.) tall, its size of course is ultimately so much more manageable than that of Bismarckia.
