55 Gallon Drum  (410 lbs.)  - Methanol is used as a feedstock to produce chemicals such as acetic acid and formaldehyde, which in turn are used in products like adhesives, foams, plywood subfloors, solvents and windshield washer fluid. Other uses of Methanol include solvents and as an antifreeze in pipelines and windshield washer fluid. Methanol is also used in some wastewater treatment plant, a small amount of methanol is added to wastewater to provide a carbon food source for the bacteria which convert nitrates to nitrogen gas and reduce the nitrification of sensitive aquifers.
