
Handbuilding & Raku
DESCRIPTION Handbuildling & Raku April 27th 2-5pm May 5th 2-5pm Whether you’re an experienced potter or new to ceramics, raku is an exciting way to add some heat to a rainy, gray season. The most dramatic of all firing processes, raku is a gas-powered, outdoor firing that yields some of the most dazzling lusters and surface textures in ceramics. In this two part course, you’ll have the opportunity to build and fire your own unique piece. Week 1 consists of handbuilding a sculptural piece. Week 2 you’ll glaze your piece, take part in the firing process, and take your masterpiece home with you. Break all the rules that you’ve learned about ceramics and see what magic can happen! Details: Skill Level: No ceramics experience required. Experienced potters are encouraged to join but should keep in mind that this is a beginner level raku class.
