Paul Achs returned to the family winery in Gols in 1991 after spending time in California where he learned to produce red wines at the highest level of quality. Ninety percent of the production is dedicated to red wine and all 58 acres are farmed biodynamically. Paul Achs wines are characterized by elegance and finesse. Heideboden is a flat and gravelly area between Gols and the lake and is a source of fresh and easy drinking red wines. Gravel soils mixed with limestone provide excellent drainage while warm breezes from the Pannonian plain bring the circulation and warmth required to consistently ripen red grapes.  Zweigelt is a cross of Blaufränkisch with Sankt Laurent developed in 1922 by Fritz Zweigelt at Klosterneuburg. It is the most planted and most popular red wine in Austria thanks to its soft and fruity character. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and is aged for 12 months in a combination of large French and Austrian oak casks.  Tasting Notes Well-drained soil an
