The 2024 Rubentis pours a pale coral pink with a silvery, almost iridescent shimmer. There’s a slightly cloudy haze from its minimal intervention style, a nod to its brief lees aging and gentle handling. Fine bubbles cling to the glass and rise persistently, signaling the wine’s natural spritz (not a fully sparkling wine, but lively enough to lift the palate). Ameztoi is a multigenerational estate — the family has grown vines in Getaria for over 200 years, and they were pioneers in revitalizing the rosado style of Txakolina after it fell out of favor. Hondarrabi Zuri (white grape) and Hondarrabi Beltza (a local red variety possibly related to Cabernet Franc) are grown on steep slopes just above the Bay of Biscay, cooled by ocean breezes and shrouded in morning mist. The 2024 vintage reflects a slightly warmer growing season but retains the hallmark freshness and precision Ameztoi is known for. The grapes were co-fermented with native yeasts, then aged on the lees for added texture and
