Domaine Jean Foillard Morgon Cote du Py 2023 1.5L
94 pts Vinous The 2023 Morgon Côte du Py comes from several parcels of granite and schistous soils with many centurion vines. This has a wonderful, very complex bouquet with exquisite delineation: crushed stone filters through dark berry fruit alongside hints of ash and light stony scents. The sapid and vivacious palate has filigree tannins, a silver thread of acidity, and a touch of cracked black pepper towards the long finish. This is one of the best Morgons you can buy…but that's old news. - By Neal Martin on March 2025 • Gamay vines top out at 93 years of age • Schist, Granite, Manganese soils • Traditional, whole cluster fermentation lasts from 3-4 weeks • Aged for 6-9 months in used oak barrels • Old Barrels are a minimum 2 years old • Vineyards are farmed organically • Unfiltered and with no added SO2 during vinification Jean and Agnès Foillard took over his father’s Domaine in 1980.
