Auten Vineyard, a gently sloping site on the west side of Cayuga Lake, was first planted to Riesling in 1997, with additional vines added in 2001. The grapes for the 2020 Auten Skin-Contact Riesling were hand-harvested, crushed, and fermented on skins for approximately 21 days. The skins were pressed off and the wine sat on lees for one year in stainless steel before bottling, unfined/unfiltered. Bright citrus and tangerine skin on the nose, the palate is taut and focused with high acidity.
