In Latin, written texts are called textus, meaning “fabric,” while in Chinese tradition, poetry, painting, and calligraphy share the metaphor of wen (文), which signifies pattern, culture, and interconnectedness. ​Why are we drawn to weaving? Weaving is a faithful and silent record of time: as needles dance and threads intertwine, our laughter, idle chatter, warmth, the faint sweat of our fingertips, and the time we spend together are all absorbed into the yarn, becoming part of the fabric.
