Issues on the development of english language teaching
This book is an attempt to design a new curriculum and suggest for the development of a new syllabus for English language teaching in schools in Libya. There is also an attempt to show how the Libyan student can be helped to be a better learner of English. The main objectives are: first to undertake a critical review of the existing curriculum, pointing out its advantages and disadvantages; second to identify the problems that learners and teachers face and to suggest how they may overcome them; and third to propose a new approach to improve learning. The book is divided into four chapters. The first chapter outlines some methods and approaches in second and foreign language teaching. The second chapter describes the history of English language teaching in Libya.
