Brooklyn-based artist Alessandro Teoldi (b. 1987, Milan, Italy) received his MFA from ICP-Bard College in 2013. His practice encompasses textiles, sculpture, drawing and installation exploring themes of intimacy, connection queerness, and desire. Recent solo exhibitions include Capsule, Shanghai, CN; Galleria Acapella, Naples, Italy; 11R, NY; and Baxter St at The Camera Club of New York, NY.   Untitled (Philippine Airlines, Avianca and Delta) was originally sewn from aircraft blankets the artist has collected over the last few years. Whether taken off the plane or gifted to him by friends and family,  the synthetic blankets become statuesque objects, woven into shameful gestures and lovingly stitched into new portraits or figures. By collaging the blankets together, the artist reassigns the meaning of the material—recontextualizing the relationships within a new conceptual frame.
