A shallow antique Chinese blue and white porcelain bowl with a phoenix and peony flowers.   The heavy porcelain bowl has a hand painted design of a flying phoenix next to a garden with peonies in bloom. The cobalt used is a medium blue and shows some cobalt explosions. The background white glaze has a blue tint. The back is decorated with leaves.   The foot is shallow, cut, rounded and unglazed. You can see the nice white clay of the body. There is a cobalt maker's mark within a square in the center of the base. Several ownership marks are also scratched on the base.
