Pre order now for delivery this spring! Ajuga reptans 'Black Scallop' Commonly known as bugleweed, this small spreading groundcover creates compact coverage when planted close together. The deep black and burgundy scalloped foliage is accompanied by beautiful lace-like blue flowers that are fragrant. The leaves present as a spreading rosette that can carpet your flower bed up to 3 feet wide over time. Expect blooms in spring to early summer (May - June). Plant Ajuga in full sun to part shade locations with average, well drained garden soil. Will grow in full shade, but best foliage color usually occurs in part-sun locations. Plants should be spaced out up to 12" apart due to their quick growth spread.   Works well along borders, around shrubs or in containers. The primary use for this perennial is as a groundcover. Avoid planting near lawn areas or perennial beds where it will be prone to spread and hard to contain.
