Roman Empire Aelius Caesar silver denarius coin issued during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. Denarius coin, 3.09g, minted 137 CE, RIC H430 (rated as Scarce), RSC 50. Aelius only issued in 137 CE as he died before he could assume the purple. His coinage is scarce! Certified by NGC to Ch VF. Obverse: L AELIVS CAESAR, bare head right. Reverse: TR POT COS II, Felicitas standing left holding caduceus and cornucopia. The Goddess Felicitas was the personification of good luck and success. Felicitas could encompass both a woman's fertility, and a general's luck or good fortune. She had a temple in Rome and her festivals were on July 1st and October 9th. She was frequently portrayed on coins as a symbol of the wealth and prosperity of the Roman Empire.
