Emperor Marcus Aurelius Roman Empire silver denarius coin. Appox 18mm, RIC 313, RSC 328. Dated (TR P XXIX IMP VII) denarius minted from Dec 174 to Autumn 175 CE. Superb bearded portrait of the Emperor and sharply detailed presentation of Victory (exceptional detail of face, bodice and wings). Well struck with nice lustrous surfaces and centered flan. Certified by NGC to Ch XF. Obverse: M ANTONINVS AVG GERM TR P XXIX, mature laureate bust right with full beard. Reverse: IMP VII COS III, Victory seated left holding patera and palm. Victory was the personification of military triumph by the Roman Legions. This reverse may allude to the defeat of the Quadi, which occurred during this time period.
