Height in the Garden: 40' Attributes: Slow growing true cedar with green foliage. Cedrus brevifolia has the shortest needles of the genus. Will form a flat topped tree in time. Notes: C. brevifolia makes an excellent bonsai with its short needles and horizontally oriented branches. There was a time not long ago when this species was not readily available, and it still isn't exactly abundant in the horticultural trade. It responds well to fertilization and regular water in a light growing medium. C. brevifolia has the shortest needles of the genus, making it an excellent choice for bonsai. Uses: Bonsai and small specimen tree.
