USDA Cold Hardiness Zone: 7 Native Range: East Asia Soil: Average soil conditions. Light: Full sun. Height in the Garden: Is huge in the wild, but its ultimate height in the garden is unknown, though probably large. Attributes: Broadleaf evergreen tree from East Asia. My favorite characteristic is the scurfy, white to yellow undersides of the leaves. Called the number one oak in Japan.  Notes: Was previously in the genus Cyclobalanopsis, a waaay cooler name than Quercus.  Uses: Collector plant for oak and tree aficionados. Maybe a good bonsai candidate.
