Jamet, Cote Rotie 1998
1.0-1.5cm; two torn labels 96 Points CellarTracker Gorgeous nose with brine notes, meat, red fruit, cherries, pepper, and olives. Nice acidity on the palate with lots of cherries, leather, bacon, flowers, and more brine flavors. Long finish. Wow, this is showing beautifully right now! Complex and deep and just super satisfying. Quintessential aged Jamet and Cote-Rotie for me. 6/19/2024 95 Points CellarTracker Very different than my last bottle, thankfully. Splash decanted then enjoyed immediately and over the course of the next 90 minutes. Lots of interesting notes on the nose right out of the gates. Initially some barnyard funk but that blew off quickly. Then iron and mineral notes, along with pepper and some subtle spice. Not much meat nor bacon. On the palate, everything from the nose and more. Very elegant and more finesse than power. But the unmistakable brine and pepper notes were welcome reminders that this is old world Syrah at its best. Evolved and opened up a bit over 90
