Apache Canyon dendritic rhyolite is an increasingly rare material from Deming, New Mexico that is noted for its awesome desert landscape scenes. Dark maroon silhouettes on a reddish/pink, and occasionally white/yellow background produce some amazing “rock pictures”. A very hard rhyolite, it takes a great polish, making exceptional finished pieces. A definite “must” for any serious artisan or rock collector. Origin: New Mexico Dimensions: 4.5" x 2" and approximately 7.9 mm thick. Weight = 98 grams. Shown wet. Not polished. Known flaws are shown as white lines in the final picture frame.
