Abbatucci VdF Faustine Rouge 2022
Years ago on the island of Corsica, there was a movement toward international grape varieties like Syrah and Grenache that were capable of producing higher volumes of wine. Thankfully for us, vigneron like Jean-Charles Abbatucci never lost faith in the native grapes of the island. It’s thanks to him and a handful of other winemakers that we’re able to enjoy wines like this one, made of a blend of native Sciaccarellu and Nielluciu. Bright, fresh, and ripe, it is a true crowd pleaser. Light but full-bodied, aromatic but textural. It’s like red berries, picked and accidentally crushed in your palm — brilliant and juicy, with enough structure to support those brambly aromas as they flash across your palate. It’s a crystal clear testament to Abbatucci’s brilliance. Walk into any restaurant on Corsica and they’ll likely pour you a glass of his wine. We’re shooting to make his name as familiar here as it is there.
