Analog Worldbuilding for Video Games: Drawing, Crafting + Exploring In this class, students will design original game worlds by exploring what makes environments fun, memorable, and interactive. They’ll dive into setting, terrain, climate, architecture, and the kinds of characters, creatures, or challenges that belong in their worlds. Using hands-on techniques like drawing, map-making, and crafting, students will shape game-ready settings with a mix of materials such as cardboard, paper, and other art supplies. They’ll build physical models or dioramas of key areas, while learning how storytelling, design, and worldbuilding all come together in the early stages of video game development. While the focus is on hands-on art, students will also explore how their creations can translate into digital game environments such as the use of Inkarnate. Class Objectives: Identify and apply the core elements of worldbuilding, including setting, terrain, climate, and architecture. Design original
